First, just about anyone is able to make money online. Just remember, even the most highly successful IM marketers started at ground zero, too. The idea that any internet marketer made millions with his or her very first attempt at making money online is laughable. But still... there are a so many ways a person can make money on the web.

RE: .info domains
I have a few .info websites and it is just like any other website, and yes they are on the front page of Google.
If you are just using it for an affiliate website like "clear acne in three days" that would be alright. clearacneinthreedays.info If you are going to build an authority site, I would use a .com. it just shows more professionalism. |

(08-18-2009 06:27 PM)Bergen Wrote: Is it more difficult to get a 1st page google ranking with a .info domain? A few years ago, I used to have thousands of .info domains (good old Adsense days) At that time it didnt matter. RegisterFly was selling them for .99 cents and I was buying them for every profitable keyword (not niche but KEYWORD!) and throwing some garbage content, stick an adsense code above the fold, get a couple of edu backlinks and make money... Those days are over and Google caught on. Here is my observation and experice: If you have an equally aged .com and .info domain with typical megabyte of of content with similar backlink and same weighed backlink quality (PR) then the .com will be given prefernece. My finding has also been validated by a recent report by Jerry West. This man tests EVERYTHING. Anyhow, for the small price difference, I always go with .com Hope this helps igwt777 |

RE: .info domains
I heard that if you register your domain for 2 or more years, that domain will carry greater weight in Google's eyes than one only registered for 1 year. Would registering an .info domain for more than one year help offset it's inferiority?

RE: .info domains
I only use .info domains for landing pages especially if I am using Adwords to drive traffic as I normally switched domains if my campaigns get slapped. If I create a site that I may decide to sell later on I only use .com as a .com site will command a higher price than a .info.
If you register a .info for 2 years, the price for the 2nd year is the same as a .com. So, the savings is only on the first year. The question you have to ask yourself is if that first year savings worth the negative factors that a .info carries. JV |

RE: .info domains
I have a two year blog with hundreds of pages of quality original content that focus on one niche. It has a PR of 3 and plenty of followers, yet has never (and may never) rank well for the only keyword I want it to. It is my honest opinion that if this was a .com domain name, it would be much higher in the SERPs!

RE: .info domains
I never use .info domains EXCEPT for redirecting affiliate links. Very often, I've been able to create the exact same .info domain as a new product that was launching. I then login to my domain registrar account and redirect the .info domain name to the product via my affiliate link.
I do this with Twitter A LOT and it works like a charm. Now I've also used .info domains in the past... I have over a couple of thousand domains and my experience is that Google is a lot HARDER on .info domains overall. Having said that... If you do create a good website on a .info domain with great content, eventually, Google will be kind to you... As long as you're pretty much white hat about it. Otherwise, get a .com every time. jack |
