Pop ups, slide ups, exit splash

Pop ups, slide ups, exit splash
Hi everyone

I am adding an optin to my website to get a list. Does anyone have any preference to what type of pop up works best?

So far I have looked at popup on entry, popup on exit and slide ups.

From what I have read, exit pop ups perform the best (although I dislike them!) but I quite like the slide ups as they are less annoying and keep the focus on the overall website.

What does everyone else use?

cheers

Why do you need any of that? Just offer something free that will make someone want to opt in.

RE: Pop ups, slide ups, exit splash
Its down to personal preference really, but most of my subscribers come from the exit popup.

They are annoying, but if you want a much better subscribe rate then you should get one.

RE: Pop ups, slide ups, exit splash
That's what I am doing. I will have an opt in on the site anyway in the widget area offering a free report but it seems an exit pop up may increase signups.

At least that's what I'm trying to determine. I would like real life evidence of whether these actually help.

Here are my most recent subscribers and the method they used:-

As you can see most come from the home page squeeze page which I use as an exit.

Cheers

I have built a list without that, and I'm sorry guys but I will have to be desperate before I use an exit splash. (which is not out of the question LOL)
btw, I cannot see your image.
ok, now I do. Smile

Thanks Rob

Is that Exit Splash like the one Vita has on Euserreviews?

That's what I want to determine. I want to maximise sign ups without being too annoying. That's why I like the slideups.

RE: Pop ups, slide ups, exit splash
I might try the slideup software that recently launched and test it compared to the exit splash as I also agree that a slide up is less intrusive and you can tell it to appear so many times and then not come back . Smile

That would be a good test. I would like to know the results if you manage to do it Rob

Which Slideup software are you thinking of?

I am pretty sure Infinity was promoting it. Check a post of his and I think there is a link to his review.
Yeah, here ya go,

This is a link to Infinity's site Slide in Code

RE: Pop ups, slide ups, exit splash
Nice review and nice product - I don't like the monthly recurring costs though. Angry

I only want a simple one off pop up so I'll look for a free one that does a similar job. There must be one out there!

It would be good to get Infinity's input as to how well the optin rate has increased.

RE: Pop ups, slide ups, exit splash
Hi guys,

Just saw this thread. Tongue LOL.

Actually my review for the product wasn't completed as a lot of things happened in-between... Wink I had a lot more I wanted to write about.

After using the Slide in Code, I found a great increase in my opt-in rate. Smile Though I don't know exactly how much it increased by, I estimate by around 3 to 4 times I think.

The reason I know is because I get an email every time someone opt-ins to my list, and the frequency of those emails increased by a lot after using the SlideInCode.

But I'm not only using the SlideInCode for my site. I used a combination of two software, which I described here:

http://vitavee.com/forums/thread-1187.html

The reason why the SlideInCode is monthly paid is because you don't have to install it to your website. It is server based. And also, you can make your Slide-In appear on any website on the internet because of this. They have a function for doing so by using unique URLs...

That type of feature is probably good for people who are interested in putting their opt-in box on all their Web 2.0 sites.

But if you are looking for something cheaper with one-time fee, I think you might want to consider some Slide-Ins that you can install on your server.

There might be others, but the only one that I know which does that is this one:

RE: Pop ups, slide ups, exit splash
So overall, you think the slide ups are more beneficial than the exit popups then? It seems there are a few lightbox effect exit popups that are free to use but all the slide ups are paid products.

I've never used exit popups before, so I don't know about that. But I don't like exit popups... They make my site annoying...

Yes that's what I was worried about. I think I'll try the Slide Up FX as it's only $10 with a guarantee. That should do the trick!

thanks for the help Infinity! Big Grin

Wow, you can put these on web 2 sites. I still wouldn't put these on my site but I would have no problem at all putting them on web 2 sites. I have made enough of them. Big Grin

Yes, but they don't put it on directly. They generate a new URL which you can direct your visitors to. That new URL directs you to the original page, plus a Slide In Box.
