Traffic Siphon LIES

Ok, I never do this usually but I'm tired to see this kind of LIES all over the place and marketers to take advantage of newbies.

Right now almost all the gurus and super affiliates are promoting Traffic Siphon to their lists.

I was curious so I purchased it myself... and I asked for a refund within 5 minutes or maybe even less!

The product is basically nothing more than a collection of places where you can build backlinks, the usual "find .gov and .edu blogs and post your comments there"

So how come the sales page says:



This is just pure LIES... And wait it's not all... They also dare to tell us this:

100% brand new? really?

How come in the members area we learn about:

* article marketing with ezinearticles and a few other directories?
* forum backlinking
* comment spam
* yahoo answers
* squidoo lenses
* hubpages
etc...

All of this is OLD, OLD, OLD and OLD - nothing new.

And what really got me upset this morning is when I received this in my email box (from George Brown & Mark Barnard for their partners)

JV's: 10,000 sales & 48 hours to go (BIG leaderboard shift!)

So you're telling me you sold 10,000 copies???

How come on your sales page you're writing this:



So you have just sold 9,750 MORE copies than your limit... and you're asking your partners to sell even more...

PLEASE STOP THAT - IS THERE ANY HONEST MARKETER OUT THERE???

The product is CRAP - The sales technique is based on LIES and I'm just going to make sure that I never buy again on recommendations from your top affiliates.

I completely agree with you.

One good thing that came out of this product launch is that George Brown is on my X list now.

I really liked his Google Sniper product as many others did, but with the Traffic Siphon launch he really disappointed.

In the past 2 month there were so many products that sold lies in the sales page and I don't understand how they can keep on doing that... Isn't there some kind of rules and regulations to prevent that?

Dead right Vita, though sadly, quite normal. There is a widely accepted approach to tell lies in sales letters just to get the sale. I have seen very few products which I have bought that I can honestly say are ethical.
Personally I have resisted any non ethical approach and I am getting nowhere. So I can see the temptation is huge. Not that it can't be done, I'm just following dead ends mostly.

What I do now is, when I buy something because of an enticing sales letter, I write down the bit which really sold it to me and then write down some of the secondary promises (like brand new, takes only 3 hours, that kind of thing) and then immediately check them off when I see the product. Similar to what you did. Usually that leads to an instant refund because, as I say, it's standard practice.

Even the 'only 100 copies' routine is regularly flouted by otherwise trustworthy marketers. But to me, it's lying and I don't want to deal with lyers.

Vita, I see that you are offering only a hundred places on your zero to profits. So is that true? I always assume it's not whenever I see it.
Please understand, I am not having a snipe at you or trying to embarass you it's just that I always presumed it to be a standard marketing trick like all the others. Hats off to you if it is correct.

I'm also wondering the same thing! I thought the FTC wouldn't allow such practices.

Absolutely - if someone wants to sell more than 100 copies of something then don't tell that you have only 100 to sell. This is definitely lying.

Yes this IS true. I sold more in the past then I closed it for several months. When I opened the doors back I limited it to 100.

The first 3 days it were selling very very fast and I filled more than half of the spots if I remember well. It goes fast at the beginning because people who really want to purchase it are afraid to miss the offer.

But then it slows down dramatically and to this date I'm at 88 sales. So there are still 12 spots left.

If you want to verify by yourself purchase 12 spots and you'll see that it will be closed after that LOL

I was promoting this product but stopped after they ignored my emails asking for a review copy. It wouldn't be the first time I didn't get a review copy to something, but it is the very first time my emails have been completely ignored. They also ignored the emails of several other people I know too. I ended up getting a few sales but I'm thinking of emailing those people with a link to this thread.

Furthermore, I am still ranked pretty well for the product, I should advise people to refund the product and put a link to this thread on my site.

I totally agree. I really trusted George Brown since Google Sniper which I believed was a great investment. Since then especially the last couple of months I have not bought anything he has endorsed. I look up warrior forum for any new products that come out on the market as Traffic Siphon and when I did a search for it the reviews are basically all the same Traffic Siphon is a waist of time, money and the marketing is a bunch of lies. Shame on you George. Luckily we have people like Vita around.

Many marketers have shifted from marketing to hardselling lately and the trend is really picking up at alarming speed. You got my full support on this. The same unethical and annoying trend is noticable in the daily load of emails that litter my inbox of late. Emails with headlines like " your download" or "your membership about to expire ..." are only to catch ones attention on false premises.

A ton of new review sites are up and running every day now. I never buy on the information or feedback they give and most of the editors never bought the program they are reviewing in the first place or made money with the program in the review. Review sites should prove that they bought the program and tested it out for a minimum of time + back this up with stats.

I don't really like all the copy and paste , blackhat etc ..programs and I am a true believer in pure and fresh content based marketing with an ethical commercial twist.

I do the very same as you do whenever I buy a new program and most of the time I can make up my mind within minutes if the claims in the salesletter are genuine and if the program is worth giving it a try. I got a list myself with a couple of names on it of people I will never buy from again. The disturbing trend however is that some of my gurus of the past who I would buy every program from are now teaming up with less ethical marketers and launching new products at warp speed .... a very, very worrying situation .

FTC regulations will have to go a long way ( unfortunately ) to weed all that out and clear the marketing arena ! I wished it weren't necessary for the benefit of free marketing .

I was also interested in this product, purely because it was being recommended by George whom I thought provided some real value with his Google Sniper course.

However, being an IM skeptic these days I did some research and found that this is purportedly the Traffic Siphon that was released earlier this year. These guys bought it outright, rehashed it and released it again under their own banner - if you can believe the various discussions on the forums.

Nothing new at all - just the same thing re-badged - shame on George and Andrew X (I believe), he has now lost all credibility with me and I have removed myself from his mailing list. Bound to have a high refund rate for sure!

Never has the phrase "caveat emptor" been more applicable than in the IM arena these days, especially for - thankfully there are a handful of generous top IMers around willing to provide genuine information and assistance, Vita Vee being pre-emminent amongst them!

Making money is one thing and wasting others' time and money is another.

What is cherished the most is your concern about all others who might be misled by those "full-of-shxx" promotions that they keep producing now and in the future. Yes, "let the buyer beware" is of great importance indeed.

I went off George Brown the minute he started promoting a heinously bad autoblogging system and unsubscribed from his lists some time ago. That, of course, did not stop the zillion Traffic Siphon emails from hitting my inbox thanks to his army of affiliates - emails I promptly deleted.

I am about to do a huge unsubscribe clean up as I'm sick to death of the hardsell and BS that litters my inbox. I particularly hate those lies about limiting numbers - when I sell a product as a WSO and it's limited I stick rigidly to that limit because it's important, particularly in the case of a PLR package, that people get exactly what they have paid for and that they can trust your integrity.

It saddens me to think that we might all get tarred with the same brush but I shall continue to market with absolute honesty as I am sure that, long-term, it works best.

I agree with that, what worries me the most is that it seems that they are also making more money than ever so if we don't PUBLICLY talk about this it will probably become even worse. From now one when I'll see a sales page with "marketing tactics" like they call them (or LIES in common language) I'll report it in this forum. I encourage everyone to do the same.

Hi Jack,

I think I would be careful about calling someone a liar in such a public arena - not sure what the defamation laws are like in the US, but I suspect that they would be pretty broad and encompassing.

Personally I tend to use the phrase "handles the truth carelessly" which was provided to me as a viable option to use when I worked in a large law firm.

Great to see a really honest review though!

Don't hesitate to start a thread about the autoblogging software you are talking about (if you have purchased it and can confirm 100% that the sales page is pure lies).

I personally will not stop to put limits on what I sell because it works but like you said it's important to stick to our words.
