Buying backorder domains question
Hi and salut everyone,
I just bought a backorder domain that is set to expire some time next year. I just want to be sure here: by having bought this domain already now, does this mean I will automatically get it later? Or does the original domain owner still get the priority to renew it? Second question: I've noticed that this domain is not really in use, it's just a redirect and is not indexed by google. Is there a way to get it sooner? Can I contact the owner? I'm really a noob concerning this kind of problem as it has never happend before to me

RE: Buying backorder domains question
well I still don't see the domain on my admin panel so I believe I won't get it until the expiring date. However it's still a big questions for me whether I'll actually get it or not???

RE: Buying backorder domains question
If the domain expires next year then it sound really strange to me that you would get first dibs even over the current owner. Wouldn't this mean if you register a domain for 1 year, in a few months someone could step in and out buy you.

RE: Buying backorder domains question
well there's always an extra "secure your domain" option that costs $2. I guess that's what it is? if the current owner didn't pay for it, he might lose his domain after the expiring date. well that's how I see it, i might be wrong.

RE: Buying backorder domains question
The domain owner still has priority to renew it. I think what you paid for is the priority to buy the domain name if the original owner doesnt renew it.

RE: Buying backorder domains question
It sound that mudbutt is more correct.
I renewed one of my domains almost a month after it had expired, but this could very well be due to that no one was interested in it. Doesn't it mention what the process on the website where you paid for the domain. Have you become an employee to your own business by chasing first page google rankings on a daily basis? RE: Buying backorder domains question
There is an extremely interesting article outlining the whole expiring domain process at the following blog:
