PPC VS Free Traffic
Which way do you market and make money online. Do you do it with ads or just natural traffic.

RE: PPC VS Free Traffic
I have very little excpierience with ppc. But so far i have made just above the breakeven.

I think that the best way to make money is by using both free traffic and ppc. Of course it is easier said than done, but it should always be your goal.

RE: PPC VS Free Traffic
I am new to this and PPC scares me. I have the idea that if you are not really good at it, you end up loosing money. Just my thought.

Anybody knows of good tutorials on PPC where you can learn how to do it as a professional?

RE: PPC VS Free Traffic
Personally I use PPC more than SEO. Let's say that I'm still learning SEO and can hardly make any significant use of it. It will take some time for me to learn, while PPC due to almost instant results you get when using it is so much faster to learn.

Normally, you'd test waters in PPC, then go SEO. That way if you don't turn profit from PPC, you can possibly do it in SEO or scale your campaigns.

PPC can be hard though, because if used in the way most people do affiliate marketing, it's often extremely difficult to turn profit at all.

Good point.

Here is a great method to use PPC and SEO.

When you start working on a new niche, it's a good thing to start with a PPC campaign to find the keywords that convert the visitors into buyers and the keywords that don't convert at all or poorly.

Armed with this knowledge you can then start an SEO campaign and optimize your pages for the profitable keywords you have discovered in your PPC campaign.

It's what I do outside of the internet marketing niche and this works well.

When you get a page 1 ranking you get most traffic than what you get with PPC and the traffic is free.

Consider this:

The #1 ranked advertiser gets in average 3% of the overall search volume.
The #1 spot in the free listings gets in average 40% of the overall search volume.

More than 10 times more traffic and it's free Wink

The #10 spot in the free listings gets approximately 3% of the overall search volume, like the #1 PPC advertiser...

For me PPC is good to test quickly a campaign or to promote a super competitive niche (one where you can't get page 1 rankings easily)

This is some really good information! I never really looked at doing things this way, but I guess that's because I avoid PPC. Might have to rethink that at some point now. Smile

When you have the budget, it's common practice to accept to "lose" money on an initial adwords campaign at the condition that you're tracking everything. With the data you have gathered it's often possible to then turn a nice profit.

RE: PPC VS Free Traffic
Another idea is if you are starting out and want to test the PPC waters... Have a look around at a few different hosting companies and you'll find that some of them will offer "$50 free google adwords account" etc... that way you can play around with a few small campaigns and see how it works...

In every course where they "promise" easy traffic and incresing your list most of them after you buy them have to do with spending your hard earned savings on PPC and the FREE traffic methods are not really explained on a paint by the numbers kind of way!

I think the easiest way to answer this question is to ask another.

What do you have more of, time or money??
IF you have unlimited time then you can build an excellent SEO optimised site that draws in traffic like a vacuum... otherwise spnd the money and buy traffic now with a new site and have traffic at your fingerstips in seconds ...

hope this helps

RE: PPC VS Free Traffic
You definitely have to be careful with PPC. I tinkered with it at one time and spent quite a bit of money in a matter of just hours. I always go for the organic free search and ranking for long tail keyword isn't all that hard.

If it's free it's for me Big Grin
