time stamp on google serps

Hey how do you go about erasing the time stamp from google SERPs? I managed to delete the time stamp off the post by removing code but the serps still display the date..and google just updated today with my new description as well so its not a matter of waiting for them to crawl the page again..right?

Google is crazy. It will probably take a while for them to update it.

That used to annoy me until I got the Socrates theme. It has an option to disable it.

Will removing the time stamp affect the serps adversely - is it recommended to keep the time stamp or remove it?
