Video traffic BACKFIRE??

Could youtube videos totally backfire???

My concern is, with the ranking power of YouTube, my youtube videos could easily and quickly out-rank my site (which is very new, and only just starting).

And since the videos on a large, authority, product-based site would be product info videos (not IM product reviews), there wouldn't be the strong call-to-action of a bonus, or a sale, to convert viewers into typing a site URL into their browser....

Good for youtube (free, ranking content), but not so good for me (youtube videos outranking my site).

I don't want to "help build" youtube's business (they don't need any more help. lol), especially not at the expense of mine...

Anyone here had experience using video for traffic for product-based authority sites (monetized with adsense and amazon)?

Please tell me I'm totally wrong! I'm hoping that I'm thinking about this the wrong way, but don't want to find out after submitting a dozen videos that this is a REAL concern.

I don't think it's anything to worry about especially if you're providing useful information for the individuals looking to purchase the product.

You should provide a direct link in the description to your site, and also a direct affiliate link to the order page for the product. And then you should also point out somewhere in the video about the links in the description. Now people will have the option to go to your site or directly to you're affiliate link, plus you wouldn't just be building youtube's business, you're creating backlinks which in turn help your own website.
