Hi there,

I have received a private message from a member with 8 questions.

Instead of replying privately, I thought this could be useful to other members so I decided to post my replies here.

It's not really important, you can use specific articles if you want. I'm myself using general articles because I'm getting them from a PLR source. Using specific articles would require more work (for me, it can be different for you), this is the only reason I'm using general ones.

Right. I have found that it was enough and that it gave me enough unique articles. But this change depending on the length of your article. I'm using 500 words articles (about 25 sentences).

Technically 25 sentences with 5 variations (original sentence + 4 rewrites) per sentence mean that we can have:

5^25 unique articles = 298,023,223,876,953,125

BUT... read below, we don't really have that

About 100 to 150 is safe with 1 spinned article.

150 is very far from the 298,023,223,876,953,125 number described above

This is because in the high number above we would have a lot of variations which would be very similar.
For example 2 articles where all the sentences would be the same except 1. Technically, they are 2 unique articles but in the eyes of google it would be considered as duplicate content.

So instead of using the formula "number of variations" power "number of sentences" I'm using "number of variations" * "number of sentences"

Here: 5 * 25 = 125

Yes the permalink structure I recommend is better FOR my specific business model. But it probably depends on what you want to achieve. Let me explain you why it is better for the business model I'm involved in and training you to.

My configuration allows to create what we call silo structures, it means that articles are grouped into categories and it increases their relevance. Each article falling into one category will help each other to gain more power.

For example if you were promoting a PPC product called "Product X" and had 2 posts, a review and a bonus description, with the structure /%postname%/ (the one I do NOT recommend) you would have something like:

yoursite.com/productxreview for the review page and,
yoursite.com/productxbonus for the bonus page.

Then if you promote another product for the SEO market for example called "Super Product" you would have

yoursite.com/superproductreview for the review page and,
yoursite.com/superproductbonus for the bonus page.

But IT IS NOT WHAT WE WANT.

What we want is something like:

yoursite.com/ppc/productx/productxreview for the review page and,
yoursite.com/ppc/productx/productxbonus for the bonus page.

and

yoursite.com/seo/superproduct/superproductreview for the review page and,
yoursite.com/seo/superproduct/superproductbonus for the bonus page.

And this is what we get with the permalink structure I recommend.

Thanks to that Google and the other search engines will know that all the pages in the yoursite.com/seo/ folder are related to SEO...

With the other approach it's impossible to have this distinction. Search engines won't see any structure and it will affect (negatively) the rankings ("ppc" is not like "seo" but the articles will be in the same "folder", at the root of the site).

Also if later, "Super Product 2" gets released we would simply add a review page and a bonus page in the yoursite.com/seo/superproduct/ category and we would have:

yoursite.com/seo/superproduct/superproduct2review
yoursite.com/seo/superproduct/superproduct2bonus

That way we would get the power of the superproduct category for our new review and we would benefit from the relevance of the 2 first articles.

For example look at one of my reviews "affiloblueprint":

The url for the review page is: euserreviews.com/review-sites/affiloblueprint/affiloblueprint-20-review
The url for the bonus page is : euserreviews.com/review-sites/affiloblueprint/affilo-blueprint-20-bonus

So if affiloblueprint 3 gets released I will just add my review and bonus pages into this subcategory:
euserreviews.com/review-sites/affiloblueprint/

For the themes, I recommend flexsqueeze. It's a paid theme but you can configure a lot of things without having to change the code.

Yes it makes a difference, and no at the same time

Well actually the physical structure of your hieararchy is NOT that important so your 2 examples above are the same thing, no matter which one you choose.

But the problem then is this: Let's say that you choose this structure:
yoursite.com/reviews/productx/productxreview

And productx is a ppc related product.

Then another ppc related product gets released called producty and you publish it with the following structure:
yoursite.com/reviews/producty/productyreview

Then an seo related product gets released called productz and you publish it with the following structure:
yoursite.com/reviews/productz/productzreview

By doing so you are broadening the scope of the reviews/ category to both ppc and seo products. After some time your reviews/ category will be very general.

But if you initially picked the other stucture you would have ended up with:

yoursite.com/ppc/productx/productxreview
yoursite.com/ppc/producty/productyreview
yoursite.com/seo/productz/productzreview

The category ppc/ would have been very focused on ppc and nothing else.
The other category seo/ would have been very focused on seo and nothing else.
etc... for all the different categories of what you're reviewing.

At the end your site would have very relevant categories organized very well, giving you more power, especially for google.
