I've just switched my sites over to 100% Adsense blogs. I tested against several affiliate programs and Adsense was the clear winner. I really don't understand why Adsense get's such a bad rap. But maybe I really do..you have to stick with it.

In an earlier post in this thread, I mentioned I was getting better ads. Well, now I'm getting much better ads.

No more ads from Groupon, Ask.com, or competing blogs. My ads are now almost 100% product ads. And on top of that they are the premium products. This is after about 6 months of getting decent traffic.

My CPC has gone up as well as my CTR. I also get a lot more placement targeted ads. But that really can't account for the gains I've seen. My guess is that Google has some sort of Adsense publisher score.

Another thing about Adsense...the slightest tweak can make a huge difference. I thought about adding a link unit under the header. But I didn't because link units payed less, and I didn't want to take clicks away from my above the fold ad.

I was so wrong. The link unit increased the CTR on my top ad. Plus I got clicks for the link unit...Very strange, but that's how it worked out.

And don't get me wrong. I would rather rank for a high dollar Click Bank product, or for something with a recurring commission. But that's not the niche I am in.

So for me, in my niche, Adsense is the clear winner. I took a hit with the mid Oct. Panda update, but now I see the potential...and it's nice.

I am thinking to give up with Google Adsense until I read this post. The income I get from it is never good enough compared to my other sources. I did not know where I went wrong, but I guess I’ll give it another try with the reference of your short course over here. Hopefully, it’ll work out well.
