Checking Google USA Rank

I see that people have misconceptions about checking ranks.

The best way to manually check google ranks for USA is

1. Go to google.com/ncr
2. Type in your keyword in the search field - hit enter.

This gives you have the unbiased non-country specific results.

3. Now go to the address bar and type in &gl=us at the end. Hit refresh.
This is the result a person in US would see. gl stands for geographic location. Following any other direct url will still use your ip and give wrong results. So if you use a direct url and get number 1 and wonder why you are not receiving the traffic you expect - this is why.

I also find that my expected traffic is accurate when following this metric.
Amazingly, I found Rank Tracker tool keeps giving wrong results.

Many simply go to http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en This will NOT give you the right result.

Results with this might sometimes be slightly different from what you would get when you enter &gl=us as different data centers give different results. But I guess this is even more accurate(when the site works) bcoz it is routed through a US ip.

Well by sitting in any other country and then looking for your keywords gives you perfect result that's superb. Many times i have to moved across different countries and this way is really cool. i guess it solves many of my problems.

Very interesting thread. I'm actually in the US and would like to see how my sites rank in Europe. Only about 40% of my search volume is local.

I played around with the first method substituting UK for US and nothing happened.

Did find the site in your link where you could search Google.co.uk, but a US ip address will skew the results won't it?

I've been curious about this for awhile because my niche is more popular in Europe.

I use Traffic Travis. It is an excellent tool and has a feature that will allow you to select the top 20 results of many different countries (as well as give data relating to the sites). There is a paid version but the free version has most all of the features that you'll need.

I came across it recently and it's useful to stop google personalising search results. To find the web page just google "scroogle scraper".

For this purpose i am using a SEO tool which use US IP to get the ranking for any keyword. I think while using United State IP you will get the correct results. The tool name is smallseotools dot com.

Nice idea to check the ranking position and moreover,I will use IBP tool for finding the ranking position for various countries.
