Too soon for Adsense and backlinks?

Hello,

I finally finished my 10 articles and published them on my new site 2 days ago, but Google has not indexed the new pages yet. It has only indexed 3 default pages that come with every new Wordpress installation (the About page, the "Hello World" post, and the "uncategorized" category) and that I deleted when I posted my articles.

My question is: is it better to wait until Google has indexed the pages before I put Adsense ads on them and start building backlinks, or can I start doing it now? Thanks.

It isn't too soon for either. You can add your adsense no problem. You can also start building backlinks. You would be best off by getting some backlinks from some high page rank domains or pages if possible first. Especially if you are going to building massive numbers of backlinks.

Thanks Jack, that's good to hear! I read somewhere that it's best to wait until Google indexes the pages, but I've never done that before and so I wasn't sure if it was true or not, but this is my first Adsense site so I didn't want to risk it. I also didn't know that it's best to go for high PR backlinks first, thanks for the info

You should only wait for your domain to be indexed before building massive links. If your site wasn't indexed yet the best thing to do would be to build a few powerful backlinks and wait for google index your site. Since your site is indexed you can do what Jack mentioned above. Also it shouldn't make a difference at what time you insert you adsense.

Thanks Nik. How long is it best to wait before inserting Adsense? Is it best to wait until the pages targeting your main keywords have been indexed, or is it like the backlinks where it only matters whether the domain has been indexed? I've already put the Adsense on this site now, but just for future reference.

I'm pretty sure he meant to say that it "shouldn't" make a difference. I don't know of any reason why you have to wait. Google is largely concerned about it being a quality site.

There are many differing opinions on this and there probably isn't a right or wrong answer, just personal preference. I choose to not put up Adsense until my site is indexed by Google and has some traffic. I bookmark my site and submit a few articles here and there for backlinks while waiting for the the site to get indexed.
