Hi guys,

I'm beginning in all that stuff, and I'd like to know your thoughts on affiliate link cloaking. I've read everytning and its contrary about the matter so I don't know.

Some say Google dont like affiliates sites, so you have to cloak them. Others say breaking guidelines is not good too.

Right now, I'm hiding my affiliate links to my visitors with Pretty link plugin lite for wordpress.

Do you guys think thar's good or do you have something better to suggest?

Well, cloaking is important. It protects your commissions so people don't steal them.

Also, it prevents people from seeing that it's an affiliate link.

I would suggest not to use Pretty Link, as a few days ago I've heard a lot of rumors that Pretty Link has some flaw that makes it unable to track the affiliate ID and cookies sometimes.

I don't know how true it is, but you should probably go for GoCodes or some other plugin instead just to be safe....

I think most people in this forum are using GoCodes though. Smile

that's what I personally use because /go redirects are very common (if not TOO common) in the IM niche. It hides your affiliate link and gives you a nice natural looking url that looks like mywebsite.com/productx.html. The visitor will only see your affiliate url if he or she consults the source code of the page.

Thanks mate, I will give gocodes a try. I saw it's not updated to the latest WP version, but I guess it's not a big deal anyway.

edit: I answered before seeing your script youproblog. I'm not a tecchie so is it easy to implement?

I mean my affiliate links are on images. So copying the affiliate links in the script you indicated will automatically hide the aff links?
