How much anchor text too much?
I've written content for some sites of mine and have kept the keyword density to just below 2%. However anchor text on every appearance of a key word even at 2% seems like a lot. They link to other pages within my site. Any suggestions. The content is very coherent grammatically.

RE: How much anchor text too much?
Hi sirpass
The objective/purpose of keyword density and anchor text is different. To rank well for your page, keyword density is a factor. Once your visitor land on your site, you will want them to take action via anchor text. The objective of an anchor text is to get your visitors to take the desired action such as "Click Here To Download eBook" to capture lead . If you have too many anchor text on your page, you will be confusing your visitors. May I know what is purpose of your anchor text? |

RE: How much anchor text too much?
When the content references other topics within the site, that word has anchor text linking to another specific page within the site. Same way Wikipedia utilizes their anchor text.

RE: How much anchor text too much?
Hi sirpass, I don't think too many links are a problem if they are used grammatically correctly, in content, and especially if they are internal links. You brought up Wikipedia which is an excellent example of this.
@apollo the effect of anchor text on the search engines is that it relates relevancy. It may be easier with an example. If I use internet marketing forum as anchor text to some IM forum, it will tell the search engines something about that site. It will tell them that that forum is relevant to internet marketing forum. In my example, I am telling Google that the Warrior forum is relevant to the term "internet marketing forum" (not that it doesn't know it already ).Even more importantly to seo people is that anchor text tells the search engines what to rank that specific page for. When a page is being linked to using an anchor text, the search engines will start to rank that specific page for that specific term. RE: How much anchor text too much?
Hi Guys
I fully understand about anchor text. I have written a post on "write anchor text" and if you were to google that, i am on the 1st listing. My site is makemoneymall.com What I am trying to say is, what is the purpose to have so many anchor texts on the post? So much till it is having 2% density to the content. The purpose of my anchor text is to guide my users to some useful information to build trust and authority in my niche. I won't want to lose hair over achieving a predetermined density as what sirpass is asking. |
