Hi daada,

There's really no secret to using Market Samurai - or any other keyword research tool.

Here's what's important:

Look for those "secondary" niches - drill down from any 'top level' niche, such as finance, health & wellness, education, etc. From there you'll find a LOT of keywords that indicate 'secondary' niches.

For instance, if I begin with 'education', I can look at "adult education", "continuing education", "vocational education" as 'secondary' niches.

Using those as my 'root' keyword and drilling down from there, I can begin to uncover these 'secondary' niche opportunities - niche keywords that aren't as highly competed for, yet having great search volume.

Once I find a good target 'root' keyword, I use that to begin developing my "keyword phrase group" - a group of keywords/phrases 'under' that 'root' keyword. In other words, I think of my 'root' keyword as what my site will be about, and my "keyword phrase group" as the pages of that site.

Just by way of example, and this is a 'made up' example:

Drilling down from "education" / "vocational education", I come across "medical secretary".

With that as my 'root', I develop a "keyword phrase group" to include "medical secretary salary", "health care jobs", "medical transcription", "medical secretary training", etc.

That's when I can now use Market Samurai's various SEO and competition data.

I want to 'test' those potential keywords, looking for ones that have good search volume, perhaps 50 searches per day or higher, and competition such that the sites currently in positions #6-#3 are relatively low Pagerank, fewer than 100-300 backlinks, etc.

From there, I can build out a strong topical niche site. If I put my time & resources into creating - or outsourcing - high quality articles covering each of the keywords in my "keyword phrase group", I'll end up with a strong, value-add niche site that will be ideal for monetizing with Adsense.

RE: Q&A Session With Michael Ullman - A Rich Adsense Guy!
Big Grin Hows it going Michael Ullman! So I read your 100k Adsense Blue Print a while back. Absolutely superb. I am not sure if you are still answering questions on here with the thread being so old but I have one.

So I am building my first authority style site. Really I might have skipped the micro authority part. I have a 2500 word home page and have done a pyramid or silo style site. I have 4 silos started with room for 3 more planed. Anyways I have about 60 articles I am doing for the first part of the site. I gathered all my keywords using the related terms in the google KW tool. Therefore if my term were hypothetically footballs. All of my articles and KWs have the term Footballs in them. I have heard that doing your research this way may cause a duplicate content penalty or a KW stuffing penalty. Wondering what your experiences or thoughts on this are?

Also, any chance you have a mastermind group or personal coaching programs? I would be greatly interested.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Entrepreneur

RE: Q&A Session With Michael Ullman - A Rich Adsense Guy!
Hi Michael,

Thanks for coming here sharing your knowledge and answering questions from us.

I have a peculiar situation here and will be keen to know if you can help.

I just bought an 2006 established site with a two word buyer keyword exact match domain.

It is in a very very competitive niche with more than 75,000 searches monthly.
it is ranking on the first page of Google 5 to 8 for its exact keyword.
This was all achieved taking note of the following:
1. Without the previous owner updating the content for one year.
2. poor on site SEO optimization
3. Poor off site SEO. Less than 10 low PR backlink (majestic shows 90 though)

It was monetized with eBay, Amazon and AdSense when I took over.
But it only made the guy less than a thousand last year.
I don 't know how the hell it only made him that much with such a gem!

I don't to lose its current first page ranking. But it is only ranking for three keywords. And I would like to go for other long tail keywords and related keywords.

How do you think I should set up a campaign for it?

Your advice will be appreciated!

Regards,
William

RE: Q&A Session With Michael Ullman - A Rich Adsense Guy!
Just got this email from Michael. Anyone know what it's all about?

Quote:Hello,

Please take a few moments to read this brief email. Since we're sending this to everyone on our lists, customers, affiliates, and prospects, we apologize in advance if you receive this twice.

On Monday, we'll be posting a report I've written entitled:

"It Had To Happen: Disruptive Correction, and the Death of Internet Marketing"

This isn't hyperbole or 'scare tactics', and it isn't intended to sell anything. If you are involved in Internet Marketing, your world is about to change, in a profound and massive way.

Whether you're aware of it or not, there have been some huge changes, or "shifts" in the Internet Marketing space this past year - chief among them Google's "Panda", but many others such as the FTC bans.

As big as they are, they're just the "tip" of what's about to happen. Everything - really, everything - is about to change. I don't mean an algorithm change / update, or a TOS change, I mean everything.

And not just at Google.

We'll be posting the report on our blog (http://www.100kblueprint.com), as well as in our forum, on Monday.

I can say with confidence, it'll be one of the most important things you'll ever read.

Best regards,

Michael & Adam

I'm wondering if at the end of his explanation there will be something to buy that will help us in the upcoming "changes?"

Wow, gotta love Google Alerts! Haven't checked in here for a while, saw the Alert...

That email was referring to a report I released today (Monday), entitled "Disruptive Correction, and the Death of Internet Marketing".

It's a 12-page report that I published as a post on our blog. You can read it there, plus there's a link to download it as a PDF.

I'd strongly recommend it; you can read it at http://www.100kblueprint.com/

Hi Michael,

I read your report. I like the way you analogize the internet marketing scene with the critical mass concept. I think you've expressed very well the thought that many of the smart IM'ers have been saying.

In short, it can be boiled down to this:

Google is getting better at filtering crap, so have high quality, informative sites.

BTW, what did you teach at John's Hopkins?

Hi Jack,

Thanks for the kind words! I agree with your distilled statement; I think we're starting to see it go beyond database website analysis however - further throughout Google, and across from other companies, industry segments, and government.

I taught a course on 'Digital Communications' as an adjunct professor.

RE: Q&A Session With Michael Ullman - A Rich Adsense Guy!
Hey Michael,

Great job answering all of these questions!
I have one... Have any of your sites been affected by the recent Google Algorithm changes regarding ads above the fold? (For more info, see here: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.c...ment.html)

One of my Adsense sites dropped from a #2 spot all the way down to #24. (It was between #4 and #2 for months and no other linkbuilding activity has been done for a long time.) I'm using the BlueSense theme for WordPress and I really don't see how my site is ad-heavy above the fold using Google's tool:
http://browsersize.googlelabs.com/

I would like to hear your thoughts on this.
