Hi,

Just wondering even if the hosting server has unlimited bandwidth, if having too many subdomains, does it affect the page loading time?

How many subdomains you guys usually have with one hosting account?

Is it advisable to have few hosting account for this sort of optimization?

Kindly share your practice.

I don't think the amount of subdomains has anything to do with the bandwidth you use. Bandwidth has to do with page impressions and what you have on each page. No server has unlimited bandwidth. Most that advertise that are lying. And even if you do have unlimited bandwidth, unlimited really slooooowww bandwidth is no good.

Page loading times depends on how well the host takes care of their servers and how much stuff they try to load onto them. Don't mess with crappy hosts. I did that and paid the price.

Hostgator is a good one from what I hear. Just don't waste your time on a sub-par host because they offer unlimited bandwidth.

My current host offers 250GB a month. If I surpass that, I will just upgrade. But that's fine because I will be making a lot of money. Economy hosting can screw you. If you're serious about IM don't even try it. Pay the extra $3 a month, and get reliable service. Yes, $3 a month, that's it. You can't even buy a Happy Meal for $3.

Just my 2 cents...

I see no practical need to load up on subdomains anyway.

I am currently using hostmonster, and most cases/wp themes are good until there are projects I will use themes that are more heavy on graphics and interactive media, then the loading time takes a hit.

As I am preparing some local offline service in 2012, just want to optimize this aspect.

To your knowledge, do you know if hostgator does well with themes of the interactive nature?

Yeah. I don't really know too much about all the technical aspects of hosting. I just know certain hosts are slow and unreliable. And I know it's not worth it to settle for them.

Hostgator is just one that I've never heard anything bad about. They seem to not overload their servers.

Maybe you could call them and ask them. What you have on a page will have the biggest influence on your page load times. And I really know nothing about all that.

The number of subdomains does not matter. The bigger issue is how much traffic they are receiving and how much data your site is putting out (video versus text, for instance).

I also recommend HostGator. It's already dirt cheap, and you're just asking for trouble with many of the secondary web hosts.
