Many Questions About Autoresponders From a Newbie :P...
Hi,

I have heard that if you want to use an autoresponder service, you need to include your address in all your emails. Is this true? And if it is true, then what can I do if I don't want to include my real address? Huh

Edited (17th November, 2009):

Ok. So I just signed up for my very first autoresponder service. How great! Big Grin It feels great to learn something new. Ok, I need some answers to these questions. Hope someone could help me with it:

1) How do you create a squeeze page on a Wordpress blog? I want it for my thank you page after people opt-in...

2) Vitavee, how did you hide your thank you for subscribing page from being indexed by the search engines? Huh

RE: A Question About Autoresponders...
I just set one up yesterday (first time).

At first, my address was there. When I went to see if I could change it, the system told me that the can-spam act required at least a postal code to be there.

I was able to go change it but left my city, state, and zip code so that's all that's showing now. I'm ok with that.

Just get a post office box OR a mailing service that allows you to use their address. I've been using a post office box since the 90s with no problem.

Well the autoresponder service sent me an email saying that the rest of my address had to be there. Actually, they "fixed" it for me. I guess postal code means entire address, not just zip code.

Hmm... Would it be wrong to... use a fake address? Tongue Otherwise, I guess I'll just have to go out and get myself a mailbox. Big Grin Or perhaps I should use a fake address in the meantime until I have time to go out and get a mailbox...

Ok. So I searched for two hours online, and all I found was pages talking about flexsqueeze on Google. -_-|| So in the end, I found this somewhere in this forum. Hope it helps for anyone who needs it as well. Going to go and try it out now Smile:

I was wondering how you got the "thank you for subscribing" page without the sidebars.

I like the fact that the thank you page is clean and simple. I just don't know how to remove sidebars just on that one page.

I'm using the flexsqueeze theme.

UPDATE: Nevermind, I figured it out. For anybody looking to do the same thing. Here are the steps:
  • Copy page.php
  • Rename copy to custom.php
  • Put template name inside custom.php
  • Remove <?php get_sidebar(); ?> from custom.php and then save
  • Go to "edit" for your thank you page and pick custom.php from TEMPLATE dropdown

Hope this helps somebody else other than me.

Hey Infinity,

About hiding the sidebar there is an option for this with the paid version of the flexsqueeze theme, this is one of the reasons I like it Smile

And to hide the pages I want I'm using this plugin:

You can always create them manually and upload them to your root directory but that's off course harder than just using wp.

There is also a new product they everyone is promoting, but I'm not sure how good it is, called theme squeez
