How often should I ping?

Its pretty basic question. Lets say after creating a new page or new post should I ping everyday until it get indexed?

i think if you have unique content and the page is well optimized you have to ping once. by the way prefer to use cbnet ping optimizer. this will prevent spamming to ping sites and avoiding being blocked by them.

Pinging only once should be enough indeed, and if your site is still not indexed after a couple days you can ping it again.

by using identi.ca (similar to twitter) you can get your new page indexed within 15 minutes. Works for me and i'm sure for someone else here as well.

btw pinging = max only once a day! ping only when you have new content

I never ping EVER - until my site is at least 1 month old with content i've loaded by hand first.

Others hate to hear this but it's just the way I roll.

If you guys are using wordpress, then once you submit your post it should automatically get pinged. You can update your ping list in WP by going to settings>writing and pasting it toward the bottom of the page.

This should be enough here.

If you post does not get indexed, you can do several things.

1. Update the same post, which will automatically get pinged again.

2. Create an account on an authority web 2.0 site (wordpress.com, blog.com, onsugar, blogetery, etc.). Then create a post on the web2.0 site with an anchor to the post on your site. Ping the web2.0 site to get it indexed quickly. Indexing it will force the googlebot to the anchor text and on your site.

3. or doing something similar to #3 will do, as long is it is a dofollow link.

If you post still doesn't get indexed you can repeat the process a couple of times. Once it is indexed you can start to building your backlinks without worries.

I've read the same thing - Ping ONLY when you have new content. So, if you have new content everyday, then you can ping everyday.

You might want to install cbnet ping optimizer on your sites http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cbne...ptimizer/.

You can set a number of parameters, but basically this plugin will stop you from ping spamming every time you edit a post plus you don't have to register for this plugin like you do with the MBP ping optimizer.

My problem is that I will do a new post, preview it and think everything is okay and then publish it. Then I will have a look at it live and decide that something isn't quite right and go in and edit it. Then I might find that even though a word or phrase is correctly spelled it doesn't make sense or could be better worded, so I edit it again - or maybe the image size wasn't quite right or wasn't correctly aligned and etc.

According to me you can ping any time, you can make many ping together.

I seem to have the same problem that I keep editing the post and so pinging it. But so far I haven't noticed any problems with that. I try to install as little plugins on my sites as possible to avoid slowing them down.

Hi, you just need to ping once and then wait till your site gets indexed. if you see no results then you can try again.
