KILLER VSEO Tactics For YouTube

A little heads up for people using youtube to boost the quality of your videos in the organic listings.

At the time of this writing there are some huge PR with DOFOLLOW opportunities in Youtube - simply turn on SEO Quake and look at a YouTube Channel page..and you will see exactly what I am talking about..!!

1) Make sure you have SEOQuake installed

2) Go to Google's "advanced search" (http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en)

3) in the first box type the keyword you're targeting in phrase match (in between "" eg. "Internet Marketing")

4) In the next field "this exact wording or phrase" type: Channel Comments

5) in the last field "Search within a site or domain" type: youtube.com/user (you're just searching for users channel pages with your keyword that you searched for

6) Make sure SEO Quake is turned on, then click the advanced search button to get the results...SHABANG!!

7) Now sort by PageRank (PR) at the top of the page

8) Open the first page in a new window/tab and look at their comments section, watch a couple of videos and make a genuine comment about them..

9) What happens, is that the PR from that channel page (since it's DOFOLLOW) with then link back to your profile/channel.

10) Then on your channel page the juice from the page you just commented on will then flow on to yours, but on top of that your last video that you posted will also be DOFOLLOW, which in turn will give you LINK JUICE for the organic results.

Result...Your video will get a lot better results in the organic listings faster.

I got several comments on to channel pages with PR 8's, 7's, 6's, and 5's so you can guess what happened to my video in the natural listings, not too mention my channel page itself!!

There are a number of things I have up my sleeve for Video..but not only that..you should look at pimping out a google maps local listing..!! Both Video and Maps listings seem to jump over normal listings, without to much effort..do this in conjunction with SEO and you'll KILL IT!!

Or if its your own channel then put a theme on it accordingly

How fast from the time you guys started the Videos and SEO with youtube to the time you got a decent amount of views per day? Can you share also how many views per day on average you're getting now?

for that particular promotion probably about 12-24 hours (but that will all depends on a bunch of factors). Then once it was over..the views pretty much slowed down (which is pretty normal for a product launch)..but our results will still remain on the search engines for a while yet. So initially it is for the short term rankings, but since it is youtube it will remain at the top for a while..

Thanks for sharing the video tips. I would like to know more about your strategies for google maps listings. What do you do to get better rankings for local listings?

Hi Carl,

What software did you use to produce the short teaser videos? I was just wondering whether a basic one could be produced by just using powerpoint and importing an animated background or do I need something like Sony Vegas?

I have Camtasia for the screenshots, so that's covered - it was more the use of an animated background for the intro and ending.

The idea is to build a long term channel, so that when you launch a video you will be able to piggy-back on your high ranked channel. eg. once you build it up to PR6 which is easier to do with this method that PR will then flow on to your site, since it is a DO FOLLOW. As I stated in other threads, I now have about 3 PR8's, 5-6 PR7's a number of PR6's and heaps of PR5's & 4's..so the next PR update should see my channel looking pretty PR healthy.

I did use Sony Vegas (cheaper option than getting Adobe Premier, as well as easier to learn). I did a review on a course I got a little while ago that teaches you about video and sony vegas, which certainly helped me create things like this. But have now just got a super sonic video program that is gonna take it all to the next level.

You could certainly use other programs, I don't see why not.

Another secret stash I have for intros can be seen here

They have many killer intros you can just edit (obviously if you have the programs to edit it..or you can send it straight to elance or similar). That it what some of the pro IM guys do..for their intros.

What makes it more killer is the music you use..so make sure you select your music right..

The secret stash of video intros are mainly Adobe After Effects. Which can be a little harder to learn, so as I suggested you can outsource this part if you wanted..

A nice Adobe After Effects course I picked up last year was one from video co-pilot, Andrew is one top teacher, and shows you real life examples, plus they have over 100 usable tutorials, where you can even download the workfiles for, so you can see the end result.

Wow! I did not know that youtube channel page is do follow. There must have lots of high PR channel pages.

Yes, that is correct. I have seen scores of channel pages with NO uploads and about 30 favorites and the PR is 7...plus they had about 500-1000 or more friends and subscribers (all HIGH PR).

So like most other web 2.0 properties you can just create a profile add heaps of people and you can be done with it..then wait for the PR update to come your way

This trick should work with any type of social networking site that allows us to create a spider web of links such as this.

On my own site I witnessed something this.

I was promoting a product that did not get any attention at all. After one SEnuke submission I managed to get 2nd and 3rd ranking for a month or so. When the next PR update came, I was surprised that the review and bonus pages were both PR3, keep in mind that this is just one SEnuke submission. When I thought about this it makes perfect sense, all my other review and bonus pages that I have promoted extensively and have page ranks ranging from 3-4, and are all linking to this not so powerful page thus making it powerful.

nice...Something similar happened to me for a client of mine, they have 2 youtube channels and one of the vids got picked up by a UK news site, and the thing went stupidly viral (something like 250,000 views in about 3-4 days)..after that I was watching the site and we went from PR3 to PR5, then that flowed down to all pages, now they all are PR4..

I've also noticed that once you start adding in some of the big players on youtube your channel starts to get noticed on some of the other channels, so now I have about 10 PR7-8's linking..as I believe they know the power of this..so I'm now getting several requests per day for becoming friends and subscription requests.

So, when you sub or be-friend someone see who their friends are..and add them to the mix as well..you'll see several people that are pretty much everywhere on there.
