Dropcards

Dropcards
Has anyone else experimented with Dropcards? It is fun to leave them in restaurants, at a bar, on the bus, or anywhere you go.

If you have never seen one, it looks like a $100 bill that you fold and inside you have your website url. Curious people pick them up and goto your website to check out your 'make money' offer.

Search youtube for 'dropcards' to see people in action dropping them all over the place. It pulls in leads, but so far no sales from it.

Just getting started! I have the template so it's cheap for me to print them myself.

RE: Dropcards
Interesting concept. Keep us posted on your progress! One thing that I'm particularly curious about is the lead success rate, and sale success rate. For example, if you drop 1000 dropcards at Starbucks, then drop 1000 at McDonalds, and then monitor how many leads you get over a certain amount of time, and possibly how many sales as well as calculating the sale conversion rate. You could do this by either setting up different domain names, or subdomains.

Not sure if you're doing this either...but have you tried dropping these dropcards at places where people are naturally looking for a solution to make money. This might be slightly unethical but if you truly feel you are delivering a solid product (which I hope you are!) then I might consider going to job conventions, colleges/universities (students need jobs right?), libraries (some libraries have a job search/help section), and possibly the last and riskiest place, unemployment offices (only if you are truly daring...or stupid Tongue)

RE: Dropcards
Great suggestions speed,

I don't think leaving them where people are looking to make money is unethical at all! You are in fact doing a good thing. You are helping people find a way to solve a problem.

RE: Dropcards
I would like to try offline marketing once I have my own car, haha.

I also feel like I won't be comfortable doing it until I do A LOT more online marketing.

RE: Dropcards
I've been somewhat involved in mlm and the things they teach in pretty much all of them is offline marketing. When I think of offline marketing I think of the 3 step rule (talk to anything that is within 3 steps from you), or trying to sell someone as you're waiting for the cashier to check you out from the store. I don't like it, but maybe it's because I've had bad experience with it.

RE: Dropcards
Both offline and online marketing have their place in the total marketing mix for your brand or product.

RE: Dropcards
Dropcards sound really fun. I've had lots of experience with offline promotion but never ran across this one so far Smile

RE: Dropcards
I use them all the time for one of my offline companies, they work amazingly well at trade shows when you step in front of someone and hand them a 100 dollar bill.

They worked even better at my last show when I hired a couple female models to hand them out! Doubled our conversions for male clients. Next year I'll hire male and female models.

RE: Dropcards
From how you describe this strategy, it is basically just a way of preying on people's natural tendency to want more money than they already have. Very effective, actually, but that doesn't say anything for the moral and ethical dilemmas this presents you. On the positive side, this is a really effective way of catching people's attention, but with a certain element of deception involved you have to ask yourself where the line must be drawn. Sure, it's just a marketing strategy like any other, but that doesn't make it the best.
